Our Faculty of Law academics and students successfully represented our university by participating in the 16th Leiden-Sarin International Air Law Moot Court Competition hosted by the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Athens, Greece, between April 25-27, 2025. Participants, academics and competitors working in the fields of air and space law from more than 50 countries participated in the competition.
Following the written stage, 17 teams from 15 different countries participated in the oral stage, which was qualified for the semi-final stage. Our students Zehra Nur Arık, Aleyna Oruçoğlu and Muhammed Furkan Arık successfully passed the written stage and successfully represented Ibn Haldun University and Turkey. The academic coaching of the team was undertaken by our Faculty of Law academics Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Erol and Res. Asst. Muhammet Talha Kaan.
After months of intensive preparation, our team competed against four different teams in the semi-finals and displayed an impressive performance that won the appreciation of the jury members and other competitors. It finished the competition in fourth place in the plaintiff's defense, seventh in the defendant's defense, and eighth in the overall ranking.
In the social events held after the competition, students and jury members from different countries were contacted and new collaborations were opened at the academic and professional level. It is aimed to continue the hypothetical case studies within our university and to increase international successes in this field.
