Research on Drone Law and Policy

The rapid development of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV - drone) technology has led to radical changes in warfare and civilian applications. However, academic research on drone law and policy plays a critical role in ensuring the continuity of developments in terms of both theoretical and applied knowledge production. These studies enable not only the analysis of current sectoral or legal problems, but also the prediction of legal and ethical problems that may arise in the future.

In particular, research in disciplines such as international law, air law and administrative law strengthens the legal framework of drone technology and contributes to the proliferation of academic studies and the training of new generations of researchers by increasing academic knowledge in order to overcome the qualitative and quantitative insufficiency in this field. However, the integration of industrial and academic studies is also of great importance. While drone technology is revolutionizing various sectors such as defense industry, agriculture, logistics and disaster management, cooperation with the academic world is necessary to ensure the effective, fair and sustainable use of these technologies. Collaboration between the aviation industry and academia contributes to the development of legal and ethical standards for the use of technology.

In addition, the regulation of drone technology in accordance with international standards provides a basis for strengthening national and international cooperation. The interest of academic circles in this field encourages the adoption of more innovative and solution-oriented approaches in both the sectoral and legal dimensions. Thus, drone technology and law is becoming a strategic tool in shaping not only the present but also the future.

In order to examine the effects of these changes, analyze the needs and current situation, and provide a legal framework, the Drone Law and Policy Research Working Group was established within Ibn Haldun University.
