Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law students achieved great success by coming first in the “Clean Energy” category at the “2024 WMGIC x NATO Countering Disinformation Competition” held online on November 1, 2024. Our students also won a $500 prize.
The event, organized in collaboration with the William & Mary Global Innovation Competition (WMGIC) and NATO, encourages students from around the world to develop innovative solutions against disinformation.
In the competition, the Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law team consisting of Aleyna Oruçoğlu, Zehra Nur Arık and M. Furkan Arık was closely followed by the jury with their original and effective solution proposals. This harmonious teamwork brought the team first place in the Clean Energy category and received full marks from the audience with the project they presented at the closing ceremony. This success once again showed what young people can do in the fight against global disinformation.
Strategic solutions that NATO can implement in many areas such as Artificial Intelligence, Public Health, Russia-Ukraine War, Gender-Based Violence, Terrorism, Clean Energy and Human Rights were discussed throughout the competition. The Ibn Haldun University team had the opportunity to showcase their solutions that make a difference in the international arena with the innovative strategies they developed in the field of Clean Energy.
The studies, which are carried out entirely under the leadership of students, are also being continued in new areas with the contributions of our team coaches Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Erol and Res. Asst. M. Talha Kaan. In this context, the team members are also actively involved in the "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Law and Policy Research" project carried out within the Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law and aim to contribute to strategic studies in similar areas.
We congratulate Aleyna Oruçoğlu, Zehra Nur Arık and M. Furkan Arık for their success, which once again demonstrates our students’ ability to produce solutions to global problems, think creatively and work collaboratively, and wish them continued success.
